My head’s spinning….

I have spent the majority of the day on the computer looking up copyright…laws and infringement, appropriation, “borrowing”, moral rights, public domain, royalties, artists’ rights, Droit de Suite, parodies, stealing, protection, intellectual property, fair us doctrines….and now my head’s spinning!!

Apparantly just saying immitation is the sincirest form of flattery doesn’t cut it.  I do alot of Disney inspired pieces, so I think i should know what I’m getting into before the Mouse comes after me.  I used to joke, thinking well if the Mouse comes after me I guess that’s proof that I made it, but honestly it scares me.  I love doing what i do, I love Disney, and do the Disney pieces out of love, but that’s not enough, understandably.  I’m just one miniaturist that would surely lose in a battle with that HUGE corporation.

I’m gonna take a break from the computer now, and then go back to reading before hitting the clay again, got an expo coming up and tons pieces to finish….

The 4th in Modesto….

I’m in Modesto for the 4th with my bff and her family. It’s an experience as always. I’ve been working on and just finished a new collection, (it’s a working vacation). A collection of rings entitled “Zom~B~Que” I’ll have pics uploaded hopefully soon, like I said I’m on vacation. We’re going to the river today and will be watching fireworks later. I’m a big city girl and not much of a nature person, but you know when in Rome„„right? Lo*

I’m going to be using Tumblr more often for my recent works…It seems to be the easiest site to upload my pics, I don’t know why sites these days aren’t very cell phone friendly…I’m currently working on a Marie Antoinette collection that I’m really excited about.  I have finished several pieces and will be uploading the pics soon!!

I have prettiness for sale

I’m trying to raise money for a bus/train ticket, to visit my best friend (single mother of 3, who has pneumonia, and a cracked rib), who just desperately wants me to come visit….being that I am a starving artist, I decided to list my older/vintage pieces to raise the money.  I will just keep listing the old pieces, and make new ones til I can afford to visit her.  I also take commissions, anything that can fit into a bottle cap is possible. :)

My first convention

Kind of…i helped a friend set up her booth at the convention center today. Being as how I wanna try my hand at the convention circuit, but have absolutely no experience she was showing me the ropes a little bit. although I won’t actually be working the actual show, I learned so much from her already! Setting up a booth for 9 hours might have deterred some people from wanting to be a full time carney (she used the word carney), but it just fueled my desire to get out there. The best part…within the first hour of being there, I got 2 commissions from someone working for the convention center wanting me to make a piece for his wife and daughter. Today was awesome! L*

I tried to fight it…the urge to purchase some Vinylmation. I went to Disneyland and realized I forgot my sketchbook, not wanting to pay theme park prices…then i remembered i still had a giftcard from my birthday last year, so i bought a Vinylmation notebook, that had the outline of Mickey to create your own design, and stickers. I’ve already designed a few, helps with artist block :)
